Davis Station, commonly called Davis, is one of three permanent bases and research outposts in Antarctica managed by the Australian Antarctic Division (AAD). Davis is situated on the coast of Cooperation Sea in Princess Elizabeth Land, Ingrid Christensen Coast in the Australian Antarctic Territory, a territory claimed by Australia.

Antarctica - Davis Station and the Vestfold Hills I. I was fortunate enough to participate in the 70th ANARE (Australian National Antarctic Research Expedition) at Davis Station, Antarctica. This took place during the 2016-17 summer and winter seasons. My role was Observer in charge of the Weather Station at Davis. All up I took around 15,000.

The first paved runway in Antarctica is one step closer to reality. Australia is moving ahead with plans to build a 2,700-metre-long paved runway near its Davis research station. The Australian government has now put out to tender for the multi-million dollar project. The "Wilkins Aerodrome" runway at Casey Station is built on ice.

After three field seasons of geotechnical and environmental investigations, the Australian Antarctic Division has identified a suitable site for a runway in the Vestfold Hills region of East Antarctica, approximately six kilometres from Davis research station.
